Sketch dump 2014
While i was in japan, i was overworking. And i was also hustling on the side as a freelancer. And my right thumb muscles developed serious Carpal Tunnel syndrome and it took me almost 5 years to stop feeling the pain(it still hurts when i use strength to grab things). The first 1 year was excruciating and i was forced to do everything with my left hand to avoid further injury. I had to learn how to write and draw with my left arm, and it was very hard to get used to, took me solid 2 years of drawing and sketching letters and lines to get better. But eventually i got the hang of it. Here im posting some of the studies i did on wacom with my left hand. Yes, few of them are done by my right arm. And some of them are studies of Bumskee(min yum)'s sketches.
And Samurai Uruk-Hai sketch
Samsung note 1 sketch dump 2014 June
It was super unwieldy to draw on Samsung Note 1. But we all know the tech is getting better and better.
International School of Business, Japanese college Mascot Design 2012
I had the opportunity to design a mascot for the very language school i was studying at in Japan from 2010 to 2012. And here im releasing step by step.

The director of the school at that time told me the Mascot of the Langauge School must be a Bee. Because he said that ISB stands for "I is Bee"/i am bee. And bees are regarded as hard working creatures, which aligns with the japanese ideal of working ethics of the students who will eventually graduate and get to work out there. Their ISB letter type was already decided, i just had to add more to it. So i started with a bee sketch...
Teachers had a vote and decided that it didnt look appealing. And told me to make it more characterlike. My idea was that the black stripes would make the E alphabet shapes when they stand behind the B letter. So it was scrapped and was time to do more.
I gave them these options and let them decide which elements they like the most. They returned markered up copies with which parts they like the most and even with how many teachers like exactly which part...and told me to choose those elements and combine them. But this time make it even more chibi or cartoony.
And here we had this. But somebody in the committee said that "This is not an all girl's school so you must make the mascot gender neutral"...And so i went for the next version.
I tried to make it as gender vague as possible. But the committee went back on their request and told me to make it girly and finally decided on which parts they like the most.
This version was finally approved and now i was able to make a full final vector version of the character and hand it over to the school administration
and along with character sheet
Last but not least, on the school fair day i was asked to make one poster for my classmates who were cooking barbecue for the guests. It was a fun day with variety of activities hosted by all students of the school.

I wonder if they still use this mascot to this day...?
Logo for a Japanese College Satellite Campus in 2011
I had the chance to participate in a logo design contest for a technical college in Japan called National Institude of Technology, Oyama College. And i got the first price. And they used it as the official logo for the satellite campus. You can visit this website to know more about it.
Farewell gift drawings when i left japan in 2014
Living in japan for 4 years was wonderful. I made many friends. But there were few who i really thank for. And i decided to make some paintings for each person as a thank you gift. It has been 7 years since then, i decided to share those paintings first time here.
This painting is gifted to Y.Hirota from Studio4C. He made the decision to give me the chance to work with a world famous team of anime creators as full time intern for 9 month. And at that time in 2014 his son was born, so i wished well for him and his son and drew a Samurai boy riding a white flaming dragon.

This image was given to studio president Eiko Tanaka and her vice president. Under their guidance i will always be happy that i get to work on the anime Mutafukaz, and Toruru's adventerus as 3D animator and VFX artist.
This painting was given to my teachers at Tokyo School of Anime. Aiki, Ito and Kobayashi. They taught me the Japanese way of professionalism and right hard working attitude.
This painting was given to my friends who looked after me when i needed help. Hanayo, Kaneyoshi and Mizo.
